About Us
Our story begins in the eighth grade when K caught sight of the brand new student on the very first day of class. She immediately texted her friend Drew that “I just met my husband”. For This story begins with what was truly love at first sight.
They shared classes and hobbies. The favourite being art class where they spent hours sitting next to eachother whispering back and forth when they should have been drawing, or lying on the floor looking up at their paintings together. They also would walk to the daycare every week together to volunteer side by side. Q never seemed to mind when K would stop abruptly to crouch and inspect pine cones or dandelions. And K never minded having to run every couple of metres to catch up to the lanky teenager whose long legs made him practically fly everywhere he went.
Some favourite memories from their friendship include getting cinnamon buns from Bue Skies Bakery spending the afternoon painting mushrooms for the school’s production of Alice in wonderland.
About a week after graduating, years after being best friends, Q returned from a camping trip and the new couple went on their very first date to Gimli. They had the world’s messiest chili burger from Europa and ate it on the boardwalk, joking about how it’s a good thing they’d been best friends for so long because “this is just about the worst first date food I’ve ever seen”. They walked up and down the boardwalk and along the beach watching the sun set and looking for seashells.
Since then they’ve grown through college, multiple jobs, moving houses, navigating the pandemic- knowing that the best way to make it through the tough times is to stick together and face the world as a team.
Q proposed one day (Groundhog Day actually) by calling a still sleepy K down to the basement telling her he had a surprise. While K was wearing the most obnoxious, bright red, baggy, Christmas onesie, Q asked if she would do him the honour of being his wife and spending his life together. K is never ever getting rid of that stupid red onesie now. (It’s basically a family heirloom).
Grandparents were FaceTimed immediately. The couple managed to catch Nanna and Papa and his Aunt and Uncle and cousins on a hot sunny beach vacation and spread their news all the way down to the ocean via FaceTime. K told her dance friends (most of whom are bridesmaids now) that evening that they were taking a picture for her Grandma, and with the camera rolling surprised them with the announcement! (So sorry to Tazlyn to got tossed onto the floor from where she was posed in the picture amongst the excitement). And during an annual village trip to Hecla, Q pretended to be taking a picture for Emma -who was studying in a different province at the time- while K told the group about their engagement. They now cherish the video of their loved ones’ reactions, including Aunty Shannon running into the restaurant kitchen calling “we need champagne out here! They’re engaged!”
Now, after enjoying their engagement, they are ready to start their next chapter. Cheers to a brand new beginning, September 13 2025.
